The Albany Huskies completed an undefeated season in the West Central Conference North by beating the Bulldogs in girls' hoops on Thursday 71-49. The state-rated Huskies (17-4) finished their conference schedule undefeated (10-0). Albany built a 12-point lead thru three quarters against the Dogs, thanks to a 19-9 advantage in the second quarter, then outscored the Dogs 24-14 in the final quarter to win 71-49. Albany made 26 shots from the field, including four treys, while limiting the Dogs to 36 shots from the field and 12 field goals. The Dogs did, however, earn 35 shots at the free-throw line and converted 25 free throws. The Dogs scored 24 points on field goals and 25 points on free throws in the loss. Senior guard Kendra Johnson led the Dogs with 12 points. Senior guard Kim Hess added 11 points, all on free throws. Sophomore center Kristin Lang added ten points. She accounted for five of the team's 12 field goals. Coach Jackie Parsley said the Dogs played better against Albany than they have in a while, but bad second and fourth quarters cost the team. "We need to put together four whole quarters," she added. The Dogs (4-16 overall) finished their conference schedule with a record of 3-7. They were 3-4 before ending conference play with a three-game losing streak (six games in all). This week, the Dogs will conclude their regular season. On Friday, they will play at ACGC, and on Tuesday, Feb. 22, they will play at Holdingford.
