Cheerleaders get state award
Senior cheerleaders Steph Thomsen (right) and Rachel Koehn (left) were honored on Sunday, Feb. 3, as members of the 2002 Honor Team of Excellence. An awards ceremony was held at Concordia University in St. Paul.Thomsen and Koehn were selected from cheerleaders across the state for this honor based on their academic excellence and outstanding leadership.
Thomsen, the daughter of Terry and Deb Thomsen, has been a wrestling cheerleader for four years.
Koehn, the daughter of Ric and Barb Koehn, has been a football cheerleader for three years and also served as the wrestling mascot for a couple years.
Cindy Fuchs, the football and wrestling cheerleading coach, nominated Thomsen and Koehn for the award. Each member of the Minnesota Cheerleading Coaches Association can nominate two cheerleaders for the honor.
