Cheer competition to be held on Saturday
The Paynesville basketball cheerleaders will be hosting a cheer competition in the high school gym on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m.Seventeen cheer teams from schools around the state are expected to attend. In all, more than 200 cheerleaders will compete at the event.
Schools competing include Paynesville, Rocori, Eden Valley-Watkins, Detroit Lakes, Osseo, Sauk Rapids, White Bear Lake, New London-Spicer, Marshall, and Blue Earth.
The event will also feature an exhibition by the Minnesota All Star Team.
Basketball cheerleaders for Paynesville this year are: Trista Bork, Rachael Halvorson, Ashley Hoglund, Sissy Hunt, Rachel Keller, Alisha McCorquodale, Angie Meyer, and Heidi Steinhofer.
They are coached by Sheri Wegner.
