Stars shut out LPGE, 3-0 | ||||||||||||||||||||
The River Lakes Stars girls' hockey team got revenge on LPGE, beating them 3-0 last week in Long Prairie. LPGE had beated the Stars 8-3 in November in Richmond. "It was great for the girls to show LPGE how much they have improved this season. I am proud of them. They have amazed many teams about how well they can play," said coach Kirby St. John. The Stars scored three goals in the first period with senior forwards Tiffany Clements and Janile Lewis, and sophomore forward Allie Stalbeorger getting the goals. The Stars outshot LPGE 26-12. Senior goalie Crystal Songetay got her third shutout of the season, making 12 saves. This week, the Stars played at Willmar on Tuesday. They will host Sartell at Richmond on Thursday and they will play at Benson on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Icebreakers scored three goals in the first period and never trailed. Still, the Stars had 28 shots on net and got goals from Lewis, Stalboerger, Marya Losinski, and Amber Schultzenberge.
