Angie Wunsch, second from left, a seventh grader at the Paynesville Area Middle School, was announced the winner of the Lions Peace Poster contest by Lions President, Nancy Landmark, left.The theme for the contest was “Planting Seeds of Peace.” Lions President Nancy Landmark presented Wunsch with her prize, a check for $35.
Middle school students could draw any design best fitting the message, however, they could not use any words in any language on the poster.
Second place honors went to Crystal Ring, second from right, and Sami Tierney, far right, won third place honors.
Judging the posters were Barb Elseth, Karen Knowlton, Doug Marthaler, and Jenny Roberg. The entries were judged on originality, expression of theme, and artistic merit.
The winning poster will now advance to the district levels.
Posters entered in the contest are on display in the middle school lobby.
