M&M Lumber and Rental, Inc., recently received an award from Valspar for paint sales and marketing in 2005-06. Among Do It Best stores, in the one-store category, M&M Lumber finished seventh in its district and 39th in the United States in paint sales. Employees Jeff Mogard and Jane Rondeau received a plaque for the store at a Valspar show in Indianapolis in October. In 2005-06, M&M Lumber sold enough Valspar paint to paint the exteriors of 440 houses and the interiors of 300 houses. "We sell a lot of paint. We really do," said co-owner Dick Michaelis. "According to Valspar, we do a pretty good job." M&M Lumber, founded in 1986, has been selling Valspar paint for 19 years, according to Michaelis and co-owner Jerry Mehr. The paint department at M&M Lumber consists of Linda Gruber, Joyce Hislop, and Rondeau. They do a good job in helping customers pick paint colors and selling paint, said Michaelis. M&M Lumber carries a full line of paints and accessories, said Rondeau. Their stock includes everything from pint color samples to five-gallon tubs of paint. They carry exterior and interior paints, primers, and stains. They also offer computerized color matching that can scan paint, cloth, or another color sample and match Valspar paint. M&M Lumber and Rental, Inc., is located on Highway 55 a half mile east of Paynesville.
