Gas company gives fire grant

CenterPoint Energy presented a $2,500 grant to the Paynesville Fire Department recently.

CenterPoint Energy is the state's largest natural gas distribution company, serving nearly 750,000 customers in 240 communities, including Paynesville. Starting in December, the company dropped the "Minnegasco" in its name for Minnesota to become just CenterPoint Energy.

CenterPoint Energy, headquartered in Houston, Tex., is a domestic energy company with electric transmission and distribution, natural gas sales and distribution, and power generation. It serves nearly five million customers in six states.
