Public input sought |
A public hearing will be held in Paynesville on Thursday, Oct. 5, about Stearns County's update of its comprehensive plan. Stearns County completed its current comprehensive plan in 1998 and is in the process of updating it. Three public hearings will be held in October for public input: in Melrose on Monday, Oct. 2; in Paynesville on Thursday, Oct. 5; and in St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The meeting in Paynesville will be held at the Paynesville Area Center (1105 Main Street West) with an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and with a presentation/public input from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A comprehensive plan contains long-range goals for the county for zoning, land use, natural resources, transportation, economic development, housing, recreation, and public facilities. The county has already held meetings this summer with city and township officials. Another round of public hearings are planned for 2007 as the comprehensive plan is finalized.
