Charity fund starts annual drive next week | |||
The ninth annual Paynesville Area Charity Fund (PACF) will start its drive next week. Letters explaining the fund drive will be mailed on Monday, Oct. 1, to residents in the city of Paynesville and Paynesville Township. According to its organizers, the charity fund offers area residents the opportunity to do all their donating at once, instead of handling multiple requests. Donors may designate amounts to each charity or have their donation divided among the charities by the committee. Twenty-seven local, state, and national charities are listed on the letter and donors can specify other charities on a write-in line. A goal of $40,000 has been set by the committee for this year's drive. Last year's drive raised about $37,500, exceeding the goal of $32,000. Because the drive uses volunteer labor, the vast majority of the donations go to the charities. The drive's only expenses are printing and postage. All donations are tax-deductible. Cancelled checks or money orders will serve as receipts for tax purposes. Receipts will be mailed for donations over $250. Area residents are asked to make their donations to the Paynesville Area Charity Fund by Monday, Dec. 31. Donations should be returned in the self-addressed envelope included with the letter. Serving on the board of directors for the drive are: John Atwood, Robert Bowden, Phyllis Gardner, Clint Hoiseth, Armon Kaehler, Bev Mueller, Dan Severance, Joe Spaulding, Judy Stanley, Don Torbenson, Steve Whitcomb, and Jan Zumwalde. For further information or to receive a donation letter and envelope, call Gardner at 320-243-7793.
