Detours affecting the area |
*The railroad crossing on Washburne Avenue in downtown Paynesville will be closed starting on Monday, Sept. 17. Work will hopefully be completed by Friday, Sept. 21. The upgrade of the crossing includes replacing the wooden ties with a concrete bed. This project was originally expected to close the intersection for ten days. Local traffic will be detoured to the Industrial Park using Highway 23 east and Minnie Street. Truck traffic through town uses Washburne Avenue as an alternative route to the underpass on 23 east of town. Thru traffic to and from Highway 23 east will be detoured around Paynesville using County Road 33, 185th Street, County Road 130, and Highway 55. *Highways 4 and 55 between Paynesville and the five-mile bridge east of town will be detoured for the month of September as MnDOT crews rehabilitate the concrete, do a mill overlay, repair culverts, and extend and add turning lanes. The road is open for local traffic and business. The detour route uses County Road 180, CSAH 34, and Highway 124. MnDOT expects the detour to last a month and the project to take two months.
