Seven file for six hospital board seats |
Filings for the Paynesville Area Hospital District closed on Tuesday, July 20, with seven candidates filing for six open seats this November. The Paynesville Area Hospital District - which operates as the Paynesville Area Health Care System - is comprised by seven area cities and five townships. Cities in the district are Eden Valley, Lake Henry, Paynesville, Regal, Richmond, Roscoe, and St. Martin. Townships in the district are Eden Lake, Paynesville, Roseville, Union Grove, and Zion. Seats up for election this year are the representatives for the city of Eden Valley, for Eden Lake Township, for the city of Paynesville, for the city of Regal, for the city of St. Martin, and for the district as a whole, an at-large seat. Contested elections will be held in Eden Lake Township (incumbent Joe Gruenes against newcomer Ross Amundson) and for the at-large seat (incumbent Carolyn Swyter against Doug Ruhland, who currently represents the city of Eden Valley but is moving from the city limits). The city of Eden Valley, meanwhile, did not have any filings for its hospital board seat. Incumbents only filed for election in the cities of Paynesville (Don Anderson), Regal (Bob Brauchler), and St. Martin (Diane Rothstein). Hospital board elections will take place at the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Successful candidates will serve four-year terms on the hospital board.
