Country stars to hit Regal this weekend |
Thousands of country music fans will be heading to Regal this weekend to hear nationally-known singers and bands take the stage at the 12th annual Cornstalk Music Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21. Jerry Vlaminck, owner of Country Line Bar and Grill, which hosts the event, said more than 4,500 advanced tickets have been sold. This is the highest amount of advance sales ever for the music festival. "The sales are way ahead of last year," he said. He expects more than 7,000 people to attend the music festival over the weekend. Nationally-known entertainers scheduled to perform include Mindy McCready, Ty Herndon, Mark Chesnutt, John Conlee, Clay Davidson, the Kinleys, the Warren Brothers, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, an older band known best for the song, "Fishin' in the Dark." McCready is known for "Guys Do It all the Time" and "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)." Herndon sings "What Mattered Most" and "Love Too Much," Chestnutt is known for "Bubba Shot the Jukebox" and "It Sure is Monday," the Warren Brothers sing "Movin' On," the Kinleys perform "Just Between You and Me.," Davidson sings "Unconditional" and "Surrender.," and Conlee is known for "Rose Colored Glasses" and "Common Man." Music fans can camp out on the Cornstalk grounds for the weekend. Vlaminck expects the camping area to be sold out. He has arranged for additional camping sites nearby and has arranged for a shuttle service to take people from the camp sites to the Cornstalk grounds. Cost of camping is $35 for the weekend. Besides the country music performers, a dance troop from Mankato will perform, as well as Minnesota bands such as the Mississippi Drifts, Dixie North, Led Stetson, and Doolin Dalton. Prizes and promotions will take place throughout the weekend festival. The concerts will take despite the weather. If bad weather interrupts the performances, they will resume as soon as the weather permits. General admission tickets for Cornstalk are $40 per day at the gate.
