Circus coming to town again on Sunday

The Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing the circus to town again on Sunday.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will perform two shows in the practice athletic field just north of the student parking lot at Paynesville Area High School at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

clown Each 90-minute show will feature: the teeterboard and acrobatic routines of the Los Pampas Family; the aerial and unicycle acts of the Arlise Troupe; Miss Simone and her birds of paradise; and Casey Cainan and his wonderful animals.

Skeeter, the advance clown for the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, entertained a group of kids in the Gazebo Park on Monday, July 11. The circus is coming to town on Sunday, July 17, with shows at 2 and 4:30 p.m.

In the morning, the big top should be raised between 9:30 and 10 a.m., followed by a free morning show and tour.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus last came to Paynesville in July 2003, also sponsored by the Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Before that, the circus had not come to town since 1991.

Tickets are $8 for adults in advance or $9.50 at the door and $6 for children (ages 2-12) in advance or $7.50 at the door. Advance tickets are available locally at Bank of the West, the Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union, Farmers and Merchants State Bank, Joel's Family Foods, Paynesville Corner Drug, and Paynesville SuperValu.
