Fourth of July to be celebrated

The Paynesville community will celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend. Two boat parades will be held on Rice Lake on Friday, July 4. One will be held starting at 4 p.m. at Morningside Resort. The other will start at Fisher's Resort, also at 4 p.m.

On Lake Koronis, the boat parade will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. Participating boaters should meet on the south shore at the Lake Koronis Regional Park. The parade will head west around the lake.

On Saturday night, the Paynesville Community Club will provide a fireworks display over Lake Koronis from First Island. The fireworks display will start at dark, around 10 p.m. Boaters are reminded to stay at least 1,000 feet from the island during the show for safety. Donations are being taken to help cover the cost of the fireworks display.
