Traffic accident claims Paynesville couple

A two-vehicle accident on Wednesday, June 10, at 1:02 p.m., claimed the lives of Joseph Scheierl, 81, and his wife, Marlyn, 67, Paynesville. The accident occurred at the junction of Highway 19 and 4 at Fairfax in Renville County. Scheierl was driving a 1993 Buick and was southbound on Highway 4. The Scheierl vehicle was totaled in the accident. He collided with a 1986 International semi driven by Gordon Jacobs, 74, Wheaton, which was westbound on Highway 19. The semi received minor damages. Jacobs was not injured. According to the State Highway Patrol, all three individuals involved in the accident were wearing seat belts. The Scheierls were pronounced dead at the scene. Funeral services for the couple were held Saturday, June 13, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Paynesville.
