Washburne Avenue to be disrupted

Starting Wednesday, May 17, the intersection of Washburne Avenue and Railroad Street - on the north side of downtown Paynesville - will be disrupted by a construction project for the AMPI plant. Construction involves digging a deep hole in the street and should last about three days.

During the week of May 15-19, work on the city's street improvement project is scheduled to include underground utility replacement on Pomeroy Avenue and South Street. Also, the aggregate base on Koronis Avenue and Washburne Avenue should be laid.

This year's street project includes reconstructing Koronis Avenue (from Highway 23 to Mill Street); reconstructing Washburne Avenue (from Highway 23 to Mill Street); reconstructing Pomeroy Avenue (from Highway 23 to South Street); reconstructing the western two-thirds of South Street; and overlaying the south end of Central Avenue. All the streets to be reconstructed have had their bituminous surfaces milled in preparation for the utility work and should be driven by local traffic only.
