"The trees were a little late, but each student was given three trees," Bob Bowden, sixth grade instructor, said.
The school received about 1,000 trees free through the Department of Natural Resources. The city of Paynesville's tree committee paid for their shipping and handling.
Students in Bowden's science classes, sorted and counted the trees for distribution to the different classrooms at school. The students also received literature about "What is a Tree?" and planting instructions.
As part of his science class, Bowden each year has a unit of trees to coincide with the distribution of trees.
Bowden said he has been distributing trees for more than 20 years to Paynesville students.
