Students of the Month named at PAMS |
Students of the Month have been named for February and March at Paynesville Area Middle School. Teachers recognize three students - one per grade per month - in the middle school for their attention and work in school and for their cooperation and relations with other students and the school staff. Selected for February are sixth grader Josh Andersen, seventh grader Matt Lenzmeier, and eighth grader Justin Frank. Picked for March are sixth grader Dayna Holtz, seventh grader April Terres, and eighth grader Mayuko Hemphill. Students of the Month have been named at Paynesville Area Middle School for February and March. Honored for February were (front) sixth grader Josh Andersen, seventh grader Matt Lenzmeier, and eighth grader Justin Frank; honored for March (back) were sixth grader Dayna Holtz, seventh grader April Terres, and eighth grader Mayuko Hemphill. February Students of the Month Andersen, the son of Dan and Michelle Andersen, plays in the band and plays baseball at school. He also enjoys playing baseball and video games at home. He said he was happy to get the award, which he thought he got for being smart and nice. His teachers describe him as a polite young man who works hard on his studies and is very respectful. Lenzmeier, the son of Dale and Mary Lenzmeier, was confused to be named Student of the Month again, since he also won the award last year. He figured he must have gotten the award again for his good grades. He sings in the choir at school and enjoys dirt biking and snowmobiling at home. His teachers state that Matt is nice, helpful, friendly, and a good student. Frank, the son of Marcia and Tom Gray, thinks he got the award because he worked hard in all his classes. "I feel excited," he said, "because this hasn't ever happened to me before." He plays football at school and likes to read and draw at home. His teachers said that Justin is a hard worker and quiet leader who is interested in learning and is polite and respectful. March Students of the Month Holtz, the daughter of Marsha and Thomas Holtz, was excited and felt great to get this award. She thinks she was picked because she gets good grades. She participated in the middle school play this year - "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" - and likes to draw at home and play soccer with her family. Her teachers state that Dayna is a hard worker, friendly, and a good students. Terres, the daughter of Michelle and Wayne Terres, was excited to receive the award. "It is a nice thing to get," she said. She thinks she got the award for working hard and being a good student. Her hobbies include reading, scrapbooking, and dirt biking. Her teachers describe April as responsible, friendly, and a good student, especially a strong reader. Hemphill, the daughter of Mike and Yuriko Hemphill, was very happy to be selected for the award, which she thought she got because of her hard work. Away from school, she likes to go for walks and to listen to music. Her teachers said that Mayuko is friendly, hardworking, polite, and considerate, which has helped her make a big adjustment to the local school.
