Dietician offers weight-loss programs |
Slim and Fit for Life is a new weight management program offered by registered dietician Sue Hecht through the local Community Education program. The program, which is similar to ones that Hecht previously offered through the Paynesville Area Hospital, will emphasize healthy eating, exercise, and behavior modification. Participants in Slim and Fit for Life will have three 30-minute consultations with Hecht to tailor-make a diet and exercise program, measure body mass, and take "before and after" photos. Participants will also participate in 12 weekly group sessions covering nutrition, behavior modification, and exercise; and will have a weekly 30-minute workout at the fitness center. Classes will be held at Paynes-ville Area High School and in the fitness center on Tuesday evenings, starting at 7 p.m., and will begin once enough students have signed up. Hecht, who is also a certified diabetic educator and a licensed dietician, would like to have a class of 10 to 15 people. If enough people sign up, she will add an early afternoon class. "This class if for people who are overweight, but it is also good for people who are not overweight but who want to learn how to eat right and be healthy," said Hecht. This is the first program Hecht has offered on her own, but if it does well, she is considering offering more classes through neighboring schools. For more information, call Hecht at 320-243-4386, or e-mail her at doubleh@lakedalelink.net.
