Four speech members place at Sauk |
Four PAHS speech members placed at a varsity meet at Sauk Centre on Saturday. Senior Ashley Frank (original oratory), senior Caitlin Lien (informative speech), junior Hailey Bundy (discussion), and ninth grader Kaitlin Burlingame (humorous speech) all placed fifth in the finals for Paynesville. Senior Lauren Vaske (great speeches) also qualified for the finals but had to leave after the preliminaries and did not place. Earning honorable mention for Paynesville were: sophomore Katrina Daby (humorous speech); ninth grader Ralph Daby (storytelling); sophomore Natasha Fangmeier (poetry); junior Erica Geurts (creative expression); ninth grader Dillon Herem (storytelling); ninth grader Karla Leitzman (storytelling); junior Peder Thompson (poetry); and sophomore Alyssa Tish (extemporaneous reading). Also earning team points for Paynesville were: sophomore Meghan Doll (extemporaneous reading), ninth grader Briana Fischbach (extemporaneous reading), ninth grader Jayna Flanders (drama), ninth grader Ezra Thompson (great speeches), and ninth grader Travis Wensmann (humorous speech). This Saturday, the PAHS speech team will compete at Kimball. One change to their remaining schedule is that subsections has been moved from Glencoe-Silver Lake on Saturday, April 1, to Melrose on Friday, March 31. Their remaining speech schedule is: Saturday, March 18, at NL-S; Saturday, March 25, at Melrose; Friday, March 31, subsections at Melrose; Saturday, April 8, sections at Eden Valley-Watkins; and Saturday, April 22, state at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
