Speech team starts season

The varsity speech team at Paynesville Area High School started its season with a meet at Sauk Rapids-Rice on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Three PAHS students earned honorable mention honors at the meet: junior Hannah Felling in discussion, junior Crystal Songetay in extemporaneous speaking, and sophomore Maureen Flanders in humorous. Also participating were Lisa Lenzmeier (storytelling), Callie Frieler (storytelling), Jenn Terres (prose), Amanda Kern (prose), Peter Schreifels (humorous), and Courtney Colbert (poetry).

Captains for the speech team this year are Sara Boeck, Felling, and Schreifels.

The team's next meet is on Thursday, Feb. 21, in Willmar.
