School choirs hosting concert |
The Paynesville Area Schools Choral Department is sponsoring an exciting event on Friday, Feb. 6. BC3 Acappella, a four-member a cappella male group, will perfor a 45-minute program for all choir students grades 4-12 at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium. That same evening they will perform a 90-minute concert for the public at 7:30 p.m. BC3 believes in school choral involvement and they asked to open their concert with some songs by local choral groups. The elementary Prelude Singers and the Sixth Grade Choir will each perform a song to begin the evening concert. "We chose the youngest groups to perform in order to peak their choral interest and promote their involvement throughout their school careers," said choir director Cheryl Bungum. "We are counting on the continued excellent support by the 7-12 graders in cheering on these younger students at the evening concert. We know this is a performance which no one will want to miss." The Wisconsin a cappella group, BC3 Acappella, will perform in the school auditorium on Friday, Feb. 6, in an event sponsored by the school choral department. The Prelude Singers and the Sixth Grade Choir will also sing a song each before BC3's 90-minute performance. BC3 is an a cappella quartet that performs music of many styles. Using only their voices, they sing rock and roll, country, R & B, gospel, and many other styles of music. In addition, they design their show with many comedic elements and interact a great deal with their audiences. BC3 Acappella is now entering its 10th year of performing. It was started by members of the Wisconsin Singers, from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. They have traveled all over the state of Wisconsin to entertain audiences and are currently working on their fourth album. They recently performed for over 2,500 people at the Memorial Union Theater in Madison. They were also voted the top pop a cappella group in the state of Wisconsin at the annual Harmony Sweepstakes competition. In September 2003, BC3 began touring nationally full time, performing for schools, colleges, fairs and festivals, and corporate events around the country. Tickets for the evening concert are $5 for adults, $3 for students, or $15 for a family (parents and children, not extended family). Tickets will be available at the door.
