Lucile Hough, 89, Ferndale, Wash. Lucile E. Hough, 89, of Ferndale, Wash., and formerly of Paynesville and Cold Spring, died on Sunday, March 30, at the home of her daughter, Mary Lou Pardue and son-in law, Harry, with whom she lived. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m., at St. Boniface Church in Cold Spring. Lucile "Lou" Hough was born on March 7, 1919, to Frank and Mary (Trepanier) Gendron in Iron Mountain, Mich. She married Merel G. Hough on Aug. 7, 1943, in Iron Mountain. They moved to Minnesota, where Merel was a teacher and principal at Paynesville High School and Rocori High School. Their union lasted for 49 years before Merel's death in 1992. Lou was a merchandise associate at J.C. Penney Company in Iron Mountain prior to her marriage. Some years later, she resumed that position in St. Cloud and retired in 1984. Lou is survived by her daughter Mary Lou (Harry) Pardue; two grandsons; a step-grandson; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merel; parents, Frank and Mary; brothers, Frank, Joseph, Charles, and Albert Gendron; sister, Doris Tedeschi; two infant daughters; and a son-in-law. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lucile's name to the Dollars for Scholars Program at Rocori High School or to a charity of choice.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 1, at Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Burial was in Gausdal Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Wilhelmine Streese was born on Oct. 16, 1929, in St. Pankratz, Austria, to Wilhelm and Cacilia (Ramer) Kletzmeyer. She grew up in Austria where she was baptized, confirmed, and attended school.
On Nov. 30, 1946, Wilhelmine was united in marriage to John Streese. Four sons and one daughter were born to this union.
They made their home in Wernstein, Austria, until they immigrated to Spicer in 1956.
They moved to Belgrade in 1960, where they farmed from 1964 to 1984. Minnie raised her family and worked at the Belgrade Nursing Home, retiring in 1998 after 20 years.
Together, Minnie and John shared 37 years of marriage before John¹s death on Sept. 23, 1984. Minnie continued to live in Belgrade after John¹s death. She recently resided at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
She is survived by her children, Erna (Jack) Kotten of Belgrade, John Jr. of Fargo, Willie (Jackie) of Cocoa, Fla., and David (fiancé, Kim Sjoberg) of Spicer; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Justine Pasler of Austria, Franz Kletzmeyer of Germany, and Herman Kletzmeyer of Spearfish, S.D.; a brother-in-law; and a daughter-in-law.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Otto; two brothers, Roman and Wilhelm; and sister, Cacilia.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 1, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Joseph Schoenberg was born on Sept. 22, 1926, in Melrose to Joseph Sr. and Mary (Ellering) Schoenberg.
He farmed near the Spring Hill area all his life, retiring in 1992. During retirement, he continued to live on his farm, and he helped his nephew, Jim, with his farm work.
Joseph is survived by his brothers and sisters, Marie Bauer of Paynesville, Edward (Audrey) of Watkins, John (Tina) of Indianapolis, Ind., Laura (Urban) Walz of Richfield, and Marlene (Dan) Jansen of Foreston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Mary Schoenberg; sisters and brother, Ann Loehr, Katie Terhaar, Gilbert Schoenberg, and Leona Spanier; a niece; and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dorothy Mary Kreuzberger was born on Feb. 27, 1916, in Duluth to John and Edith Kreuzberger. She graduated from Duluth Central High School.
After high school, Dorothy was employed at the Duluth Ice and Fuel Co., until her mother became ill. She became her caregiver until the time of her death.
In 1953, Dorothy and her father moved to Paynesville, where she was a nanny for Dr. Ray and Connie Lindeman and family for many years.
She later became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center and most recently of the Koronis Manor.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Jim (Doris) of Overland Park, Kan.; sister, Helen Bluhm of St. Cloud; a brother-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith; and twin sister, Doris.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 26, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Theresia was born on April 29, 1911, in Lake Henry to Jacob and Catherine (Garding) Hemmesch.
She married Nicholas Klassen on May 3, 1938, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry. They farmed in Lake Henry Township until 1962, when they moved to Spring Hill. Their union lasted until his death in 1995.
Theresia is survived by her children, Ralph (Marcella) of Richmond, Lorraine Cagley of Tulsa, Okla., Kathy (Ralph) Kalthoff of Richmond, Duane (LaDes) Glanzer-Klassen of Minneapolis, Caroline (Rueben) Nathe of Litchfield, Hildegard (Richard) Nohner of Clearwater, Marie of Minneapolis, Jane (Bob) Detloff of Sartell, and Jim (Jan) of Spring Hill; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nicholas; daughter, Marlene; a great-grandson; sister, Margaret Stang; and brothers, Marcus, Bernard, and Alois Hemmesch.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 25, at Paynesville Lutheran Church in Paynesville. Burial was in the Paynesville Cemetery.
Michael Lee Schwandt was born on March 17, 1970, in Coon Rapids to David and Diane (Jones) Schwandt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville.
He grew up in Paynesville, where he attended Paynesville Elementary School and Paynesville High School, graduating in 1988.
He worked a variety of jobs in the area, before starting work as a custodian at the Paynesville Area Elementary School. He worked at the school for seven years while he pursued his education in wildlife management.
In April 2007, he moved to Staples to be closer to his fiancé, Shiela and her son, Matthew.
Michael is survived by his parents, David and Diane Schwandt of Paynesville; sister, Ann (Tod) Wendlandt of Belgrade; grandmothers, Delores Schwandt of Paynesville and Theresa Gay of Coon Rapids; a nephew and nieces; and fiancé, Shiela Owen and her son, Matthew of Staples.
Michael was preceded in death by his three grandfathers.
Callan is survived by his parents, Nicholas and Sarah Anderson of Windom; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Joyce Henfling of Eden Valley; paternal grandmother, Kathleen Anderson of Roseville; maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Mabel Lahr of Paynesville and Francis Henfling of Eden Valley; paternal great-grandmother Lucille Woolever of Hugo; aunts and uncles; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Duane Anderson.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 19, at United Methodist Church of Peace in Richfield.
Emmet was born on March 8, 1912, in Paynesville. He grew up here and had many family and friends in the area.
He was a long-time employee of Rosco Manufacturing in the Twin Cities.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Rod) Nelson of Chanhassen; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarys; his brother, Bill; and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22, at Crystal Hills Assembly in Paynesville. Burial was in the Paynesville Cemetery.
Elizabeth A. Hild was born on July 15, 1920, in Sutton, Neb., to Albert and Gertrude Hild. She was one of seven children. She spent her childhood in Fargo, N.D., where she graduated high school.
Following her subsequent graduation from North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis, she married Robert M. Abbott in 1944. Two sons were born to this union. They were married 45 years before Bob's death in 1999.
Elizabeth lived her life as a partner and in support of her husbands ministry within the Assemblies of God churches in Two Harbors, Thief River Falls, Alexandria, Little Falls, and the Paynesville area. They also traveled throughout the United States as evangelists and childrens ministers for the Assemblies of God ministry.
She is survived by her children, Bob (Ruth) of Branson and Bill (Anita) of Belleville, Mich.; four grandchildren; brother, Paul (Myrtle) Hild of Springfield, Mo.; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 10, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial was in St. Anthony's Parish Cemetery in Regal.
Margaret was born on March 19, 1918, in Edgeley, N.D., to Elwin and Mabel Lois (Kime) Farnsworth.
She married Lawrence Bagley in Edgeley on June 30, 1936. They moved to the Regal area where they farmed until retiring in 1962.
During their retirement, they wintered in Lake Placid, Fla., for the next 36 years. This union lasted until Lawrence's death in 2004.
She is survived by her daughters, Pauline (Jim) Bower of Boerne, Texas, and Carol (Larry) Jones of Regal; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant grandchildren; sister, Lillian Turney; and brothers, Elwin and Gerald Farnsworth.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 6, at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville.
Margurette was born on March 23, 1919, to Albert and Petra Troseth of Lake Park. She grew up and went to school there.
She married Lyle Schoneman on April 24, 1945, at the Tracy Lutheran parsonage in Tracy. They lived on Lyle's family farm in Cottonwood County, northeast of Jeffers, until the fall of 1956, when they moved with their small children to a farm in Union Grove Township, north of Grove City.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle; children, Michael (Pat) of Spicer, Bonnie of Sandstone, and JoAn (Ernie) Miller of Grove City; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather, five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville on Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m.
Fern was born on March 24, 1910, in Paynesville to Carl and Helena Rien. She grew up and attended the local country school. She learned piano at an early age and became an accomplished pianist, playing in churches.
She married Harvey Schultz on May 8, 1943. Two daughters were born to this union. They farmed until they retired and moved into town in 1987. Their union lasted until his death in 1992.
Fern moved to Minneapolis in 1992 to be near her daughter, Dianne.
Fern is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Larry) Jones of Palo Alto, Calif., and Dianne (Darrol) Mason of Golden Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, and brothers, Alvin and Urban Rien.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
