Sarah Harkins, 32, Fredericksburg Sarah Marie Schulzetenberg Harkins, 32, of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away unexpectedly from a sudden medical condition on Monday, July 28. Sarah's unborn child, Cecilia Rachel, also passed away on Monday, July 28. She was born in Greenwald, on Aug. 2, 1981, to Deacon James and Bonnie Schulzetenberg. She graduated from Melrose High School in Minnesota and received a degree in elementary education from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. She married Eric Harkins on July 9, 2005. Sarah was a dedicated wife and mother. An active parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church, she recently initiated a women's Bible study for the parish homeschool mothers. While homeschooling her own children, she created a Montessori style preschool program for the local homeschooling co-op. She also ran a home business of designing handcrafted clay rosaries and jewelry, which sold worldwide. As a faithful volunteer at Mary's Shelter crisis pregnancy center, she donated her handmade jewelry for fundraising events. Sarah is survived by her husband, Eric, and four children: Liam, 7, Analee, 5, Jude, 3, and Faustina, 1. Sarah will also be greatly missed by her parents, Jim and Bonnie, and her siblings: Julie, Tom, Anthony, Robert, Christina, and Katherine. Sarah was well-loved by her numerous friends in the Fredericksburg community and will be profoundly missed by all. The family received friends from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway. A Mass of Christian Celebration was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment followed at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, Md. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 25, at Payne-sville Lutheran Church.
David Andrew Mattson was born on Jan. 22, 1993, in Fridley, Minn., the son of Michael and Michelle (LaBatte) Mattson. He grew up in Eden Valley where he attended elementary school and graduated from Eden Valley-Watkins High School in 2011.
While in high school, David was chosen to participate in the People to People Ambassador Program where he toured Europe. David loved cars, spending time with his friends, cooking, listening to music, playing church league softball, playing basketball and football, and spending summers on the Mattson farm. He was a wonderful father, son, and brother.
He is survived by his children, Bentley Mattson and Sophia Wolbeck; parents; siblings, Eric, Marissa, and Lindsay Mattson; grandparents, Marvin and Mary Mattson, and Rosanne Mamerow; uncles; and several cousins.
David was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rueben LaBatte; an aunt; and great-grandmother, Viva LaBatte.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 21, at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker. Rev. Eugene Doyle officiated.
Brianna was born on June 7, 2001, in Monticello to Mark and Tracy (Thomes) Bertram. She was a student at Becker Middle School where she was a member of the JV Dance Team. Brianna was also involved in Just for Kix. She was a member of Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church.
Brianna loved dancing and animals, especially dogs and horses. She was a courageous, determined, and sassy girl who liked spending time with family and friends. For the short time Brianna was with us, she touched and inspired so many lives. She had the knack to create so many unique relationships that were unbreakable.
Survivors include her parents, Mark and Tracy of Becker; siblings, Trevor and Addison of Becker; grandparents, Allen and Betty Bertram of St. Cloud and Donald and Helen Thomes of Paynesville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 19, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Minn. Rev. Marvin Enneking officiated and interment was in the parish cemetery.
Jeanette was born on Sept. 4, 1920, in Spring Hill to Arnold and Anna (Speldrich) Bertram. After graduating from the eighth grade in District 38 school, she helped her parents with the farm work. In 1943, she, together with four of her cousins from North Dakota, went to Glendale, Calif. to work in a defense plant.
On June 16, 1947, Jeanette was united in marriage to Mike Heinen in Spring Hill, where they farmed their entire life until retiring in 1979.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (John) Young of Spring Hill, Rosi (Richard) Balfour of McKinney Texas, Bonnie (Dr. Mark) Smith of Palm Springs California, Stanley (Ruth) Heinen of Spring Hill, Martie (Kevin) Thomes of Melrose, Roger (Jonelle) Heinen of New London; a sister-in-law; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
