Mary Gill, 56, Cold Spring
Mary T. Gill, 56, of Cold Spring died on Friday, July 26, at the St. Cloud Hospital after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 30, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mary was born on March 21, 1957, to Sylvester and Theresia (Schmitz) Sand Sr. in St. Cloud.

Mary worked at Gold'N Plump for 30 years and retired in 2012.

Mary is survived by her sons, Bob Jr. and Brian; mother, Theresia Sand; siblings, Patricia Sand, Sylvester Sand Jr., Mark Sand, Peter Sand, and Lisa Lichte; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester Sand Sr.


Carlyn Stadum, 79, Pelican Rapids
Carlyn Stadum, 79, of Pelican Rapids died on Sunday, July 7, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Burial was in the Ringsaker Cemetery in rural Pelican Rapids.

Carlyn Ann Gullingsrud was born on Oct. 9, 1933, in Thief River Falls, to John and Maymie Isabella (Anderson) Gullingsrud.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, Minn. She attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951.

She married Donald LeRoy Stadum on May 7, 1952, in Cheyenne, Wyo., while Don was serving in the Air Force.

While Don was stationed overseas, Carlyn lived with Don's sister in California. After that, they moved to St. Cloud from 1960-1965.

They then moved to Benson, where they resided until 1971; then to Paynesville, from 1971-1974. Then, they settled in Pelican Rapids.

Carlyn worked at the elementary school in Pelican Rapids for a few years and then worked as a nurse's aid. She went back to college and received her LPN license in 1983. She worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids for quite a few years.

Her husband died in 1986. After that, she lived in several places including Alexandria, Paynesville, and Fergus Falls, before returning to Pelican Rapids eight years ago.

She is survived by five children, Paula (Keith) Lang of Paynesville, Jeff (Lynn) Stadum of Pelican Rapids, Linda (Duane) Ishaug of Pelican Rapids, Karin (Mark) Roach of Brainerd, and Craig Stadum of Audubon, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; sister, Helen Barstad of Bismarck, N.D., brother Don Gullingsrud of Florida, a sister-in-law; half-brother, Jim Gullingsrud; and many nieces and nephews.

Carlyn was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; infant daughter, Laura Stadum; and three siblings, Marilyn, John, and Thomas.


Muriel Jenson, 90, Willmar
Muriel "LaVone" Jenson, 90, of Willmar and formerly of Paynesville, died on Monday, July 8, at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13, at Calvary Baptist Church in Paynesville. Burial was in Burbank Cemetery in rural Belgrade.

LaVone was born on Sept. 28, 1922, to Walter and Bernice (Bjur) Jorgenson in Willmar.

She grew up in Willmar, attended Lafayette Elementary School, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1940.

On Aug. 8, 1942, she married Arvid Ellingson. They lived in Regal and Pennock before Arvid's death in 1948.

On Dec. 14, 1951, she married Clarence Ellingson, Arvid's brother. Clarence also preceded LaVone in death.

On June 17, 1972, LaVone married Wesley Johnson at the New London Free Church.

Following their marriage, they lived in Belgrade before settling in Paynesville after Wes' retirement. Wes preceded her in death on June 17, 2006.

LaVone is surived by her children, Sharon Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; Pastor Lowell (Hania) Ellingson of Spokane, Wash.; and Larry (Rose) Ellingson of Chandler, Ariz.; step-children, Wes (Lisa) Jenson Jr. of Marshall and Rochelle Butcher of Paynesville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores Emberland of Willmar; Elaine Meshiry of LaVerne, Calif., and Pastor Rodger Jorgenson of Rockton, Ill.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marvis Wilger and brothers, Derald and Ronald.


Ray Blonigen, 80, St. Martin
Raymond "Ray" Blonigen, 80, of St. Martin died on Wednesday, July 3, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 6, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Ray was born on Aug. 31, 1932 in St. Martin Township to Mathias and Veronica (Mayers) Blonigen.

He married Darleen Faust on May 3, 1961, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, Minn., and they were blessed with six children.

Ray farmed all his life, and together with Darleen, they farmed northwest of St. Martin for 52 years.

Ray is survived by his wife, Darleen; children, Florence Schefers, Wilfred (Judy) Blonigen, Shirley (Robert) Solsrud, Nancy (Blaine) Pfeiffer, Ann (Jeff) Soderholm, and Sharon (Chad) Geist; brothers, Silverius, Clarence, and Leander; sisters, Bern-adine Jacobson, Clotilda Bussman, and Dolores Pundsack; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.


Esther Hollander, 77, Paynesville
Esther L. Hollander, 77, of Paynesville died on Saturday, July 13, at the Paynesville Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m., at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Pastor Ric Koehn will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Paynesville.

A visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Esther was born on Feb. 2, 1936, to the late Elmer Sr. and Mildred (Daniels) Hiley in Beaver Dam, Wis. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School.

Esther married Robert C. Hollander on Jan. 26, 1956, in Beaver Dam. They moved to Paynesville in 1960. Their union lasted until Bob's death in 2012.

Esther is survived by her son, Kevin, of Paynesville and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Michael; and four siblings, Don, Margaret, Elmer Jr., and Raymond.
