Gertrude Kalthoff, 96, Richmond Gertrude Kalthoff, 96, of Richmond died on Thursday, July 22, at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Gertrude was born on May 8, 1914, to Michael and Theresa (Utsch) Jacobs in St. Martin. She married John Kalthoff on Oct. 4, 1932, in St. Martin Church. Their union lasted until JohnÕs death in 1989. She is survived by her children, Florina (Marcus) Schlangen, Virgil (Mary) Kalthoff, Laura (Arthur) Klaphake, Eileen (Donald) Thomes, Leona (Wayne) Klein, Irene (Gary) Plantenberg, Helen (Donald) Brossard, and Rita (Jerry) Reitmeier; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; 44 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Janssen; and three sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; children, Clotilda Fleischhacker, Benno Kalthoff, and Kenneth Kalthoff; a daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Matt, Gustav, Norbert, Leo, and Bernard Jacobs; and sisters, Otillia Kalthoff, Anna Kalthoff, Katherine Dingmann, and Bernadine Hinnenkamp.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 19, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Inturnment will be at a later date at the St. Louis Parish Cemetery.
Alice Sauer was born on May 23, 1924, to Frederick and Hazel (Unger) Schmidt in Kandiyohi County.
She attended grade school in Paynesville and graduated from Paynesville High School.
Alice married LeRoy T. Sauer on Sept. 17, 1946, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. They resided in Paynesville. Their union lasted until LeRoyÕs death on March 20, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (David) Rice of Owatonna; two granddaughters; sister, Lorraine Putzke of Paynesville; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; son, David; two sets of infant twins; and sister, Pearl.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 9, at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Lloyd Joseph Thielen was born on Feb. 13, 1941, to Ernest and Ida (Ressemann) Thielen in Richmond.
He attended school in Eden Valley and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard for over 10 years.
Lloyd married Teresa "Tess" Topp on Oct. 3, 1964, at at the Church of Our Lady in Manannah.
He worked for the Stearns County Highway Department and started his own company, Thielen Backhoe Service. He also worked with Johnson Brothers Corporation in Tampa, Fla., for two years and with Thielen Construction in Eden Valley. Lloyd retired in 2004.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Tess of Paynesville; children, Suzanne ÒSuzieÓ (Gary) Pater of Litchfield; Shelley (Doug) Kalkbrenner of Grove City; Steven (Amanda) Thielen of Eagan; and Scot Thielen of Sauk Rapids; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-step-grandchild; and brothers, Merlin "Sonny" of Eden Valley; Ron of Eden Prairie; Jerry of Eden Valley; David of Eden Valley; and Kenny of Eden Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law; and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Farming. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Parish Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond on Tuesday, July 13, from 4 to 9 p.m., and from 9 to 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday.
Valerian was born on Feb. 28, 1934, to Joseph and Mary (Derichs) Janssen in Farming.
He married Veronica Koetter on June 24, 1961, in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe.
Valerian farmed all his life.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica; children, Linda (Don) Theisen, Duane, Mary (Loren) Tritabaugh, Theresa (Bill Robertson), Ron (Laura), Kevin (Melissa Soine), Carl (Pam), Alan (Allison), Kathy, Robert (Tanya), and Tim; 16 grandchildren; sister, Lydia Doll; and a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ben and Arnold; and an infant brother, John.
Memorials are preferred.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 8, at Crow River Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Burial was in the Paynesville Cemetery.
Stanley Stenerson was born on Aug. 28, 1923, to Alexander and Myrtle Stenerson in Paynesville.
Stanley is survived by his daughter, Debra; brothers, Kermit and Monroe; three brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; brothers, Wesley and Dean; and sister, Marion.
Memorials are preferred to Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association (NPRHA) or Pavek Museum.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 6, at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville.
Lyle John Schoneman was born on July 12, 1914, to John and Jessie (Carter) Schoneman in Cottonwood County, east of Jeffers.
He grew up on the family farm in rural Jeffers and continued to live there after he married Margurette Troseth on April 24, 1945, in Tracy.
He farmed with his brother and brother-in-law until the fall of 1956, when he, Marge, and their young family relocated to a farm by Grove City.
Lyle is survived by his son, Michael (Pat) of Spicer; daughters, Bonnie of Sandstone and JoAnn (Ernie) Miller of Grove City; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; brother, Donald of New Ulm; sister, Alice of Comfrey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; parents; and one brother and one sister.
